Privacy Policy

1. Who we are
Samantha Deans, an individual sole trader based in Portugal, trading as MediaGenie, is the data controller responsible for your personal data when you use this service. You can contact us at info@geniesuite.pro.
2. Personal data we collect
- Account data: your email address and, if you sign in with Google, your name and profile picture.
- Library data: the video URLs you save, plus any folders, tags and notes you add.
- Guest data: if you use MediaGenie without an account, your saves live in your browser's local storage and never reach our servers until you sign up.
- Support data: messages you send us and any information you include in them.
- Usage and device data: basic, mostly anonymised analytics — pages viewed, features used, approximate device and browser type, IP address — used to keep the service secure and to improve it.
Payment card details are collected and processed directly by our payment provider (Paddle). We never see or store your card information.
3. Why we use it and our legal basis
- To provide the service (run your library, sync across devices) — legal basis: performance of our contract with you.
- To handle Pro subscriptions (account-level billing status) — legal basis: performance of our contract.
- To keep the service secure (fraud prevention, abuse detection) — legal basis: our legitimate interests.
- To improve the product (analytics, debugging) — legal basis: our legitimate interests, or your consent where required.
- To answer support requests — legal basis: our legitimate interests.
- To comply with the law (tax, accounting, lawful requests) — legal basis: legal obligation.
4. Who we share it with
We don't sell your data. We share it only with the categories of recipient required to run the service:
- Hosting and infrastructure provider — runs the servers, database and file storage that hold your library.
- Authentication provider — handles sign-up, sign-in and password resets.
- Paddle.com Market Limited — our Merchant of Record. Paddle handles the sale of MediaGenie Pro, subscription management, payments, tax compliance, invoicing and refund handling. See Paddle's privacy notice.
- Professional advisers — accountants and legal advisers, where needed.
- Authorities — where we're required to disclose by law.
5. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the UK and EEA. Where they do, we rely on appropriate safeguards — such as UK/EU Standard Contractual Clauses or adequacy decisions — to protect your information.
6. How long we keep it
We keep account and library data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymise the associated personal data within a reasonable period, except where we need to retain limited records (for example, invoices) to meet legal obligations.
7. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you;
- Have inaccurate data corrected;
- Have your data erased ("right to be forgotten");
- Restrict or object to certain processing;
- Receive your data in a portable format;
- Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
- Lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.
To exercise any of these rights, email info@geniesuite.pro. We aim to respond within one month.
8. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — including encryption in transit, access controls and least-privilege practices — to protect your personal data. No system is perfectly secure, but we take this seriously.
9. Cookies
See our Cookie Policy for details on the cookies and similar technologies we use.
